Guide to Flash a Custom ROM on Moto G5 Plus

Prerequisites:

*The following are the prerequisites to flash a Custom ROM:

1. Your smartphone's Bootloader must be unlocked, you can unlock your phone's Bootloader by following this guide.

2. Your must have a TWRP custom Recovery installed, you can flash a TWRP custom Recovery by following this guide.

Steps:

1. To flash a custom ROM you must first download the TWRP flashable build of the ROM and the recommended version of the Open GApps into a PC from the source specified by the ROM developer, the XDA developer's pages of custom ROMs for Moto G5 Plus can be found here.

2. Power off the device, then hold down the volume down and power button until the phone boots into fastboot mode, then press the volume down button to select recovery mode, then boot into TWRP custom Recovery by pressing the power button.

3. After booting into TWRP, tap Backup and select all the partitions if you want to a complete system backup, if not just select the EFS and Persist partitions, then select 'SD Card' in the 'Select Storage'  option to backup into the SD Card else if backed up into internal storage copy the backup into a PC or someplace else before wiping the device.

4. Then go back into the main screen and tap Wipe > Advanced Wipe, then select the following partitions and swipe to wipe if you plan to do a clean flash of a custom ROM:
  • Dalvik/ART Cache
  • System
  • Data
  • Cache
Else if you want to do a dirty flash just select Dalvik/ART Cache and Cache partitions and swipe to wipe.

5. Now copy the TWRP flashable build of the ROM from the PC into the device, now tap the install option in the TWRP recovery and navigate to the custom ROM, select it and swipe to flash the ROM.

6.Now flash the recommended version of Open GApps if needed by navigating to it, then boot into the system.

THAT'S IT a CUSTOM ROM has now been FLASHED into your Moto G5 Plus.
